The Risk Analysis tool allows you to assign values to the type of events in your event history and create a ranked summary of locations based on the occurrence of the events. The summary includes information on the security measures in place at each location to help you visualize what is working and where improvements should be made.
In the example below, events are ranked in significance from zero to ten. For this analysis, we want to look at our risks for injuries or death, so events which are related to death or injury are given the highest ranking. If we were focusing on theft, we would give theft related events a higher ranking and a lower ranking to others. We are also reducing the impact of older events by reducing the effect of events each year and not counting events 5 years ago or older.
When the OK button is pushed, the software assigns the Risk Factor to all reported events for each location and then multiplies the event value by the year percentage. For example, if unit number 100 had a homicide in the current year and an assault the previous year, its value would be 10 + (10 x .80) = 18. The results page displays the values for each unit, sorted from highest to lowest along with the security measures in place at the location.
